This route shows two of the main Magical Towns of the state: Chiapa de Corzo, with its many historical monuments, sites of interest and artisan wealth, and San Cristóbal de las Casas, the old Ciudad Real de Chiapa, considered one of the most romantic cities of the world due to its colonial image, its architectural treasures and the warmth of its people.
Chiapa de Corzo and San Cristóbal de Las Casas are the two Chiapas that give the state its name. The route includes Tuxtla Gutiérrez, as a meeting point and on this extraordinary route you will visit the wonderful zoo and the Sumidero Canyon National Park, one of the most spectacular landscapes in the country.
The plural name of Chiapas alludes to the duality of Chiapa de los Indios, where the Spanish arrived in 1528, and the Ciudad Real de Chiapa or Chiapa de los Españoles, founded by the conquerors that same year.
Visiting both Chiapa de Corzo and San Cristóbal de Las Casas, together with the landscape of the Sumidero Canyon that gave them their identity through the shield of arms, is to delve not only into the most endearing geography of the state and a vast cultural legacy, but in the history and the very soul of Chiapas.
