Located in the heart of the biosphere reserve La Encrucijada, surrounded by the highest mangroves of the American Pacific, in Costa Verde you can take tours through mangroves, lagoons and estuaries, such as El Aguaje and El Silencio, to observe birds, crocodiles, reptiles and other animals that inhabit this place. Through its Environmental Interpretation Center and its ecotourism tours, they will show you the richness of this part of the reserve.
The Costa Verde Tourist Center has boats equipped with ecological motors, as well as canoes for silent rides, which can be much better for wildlife observation; kayaks and rowboats. The beach is not adjacent to the center, but is quite close.
It is located in the community of El Castaño, in the municipality of Mapastepec; it is located in front of the San Nicolás estuary, 23 km from the city of Mapstepec, from where you take the road to the communities of Ibarra and Roberto Barrios, and then take the detours to Ranchería El Castaño. You can also get there by boat, enjoying a 50-minute ride on the estuary from the "Las Garzas'' dock in Acapetahua.
