La Lupe Artisan Touristic Center

Lupe Island is located about 3 km from Barra Zacapulco Tortuguero Campground, in the municipality of Acapetahua. It is a small fishing village, where time seems to have stopped and leaves its visitors alone in front of the immensity of the ocean, surrounded by new sounds: birds, insects, nocturnal animals and of course the waves of the sea.

In this community there is a group of artisans who carve coconuts and form figures of shells and snails that give an artistic touch to the ecotourism network of La Encrucijada and promote creativity, as well as relax and entertain the visitor, creating a cultural exchange within the workshops. The hospitality of its inhabitants is also an art in this community.

In favorable seasons it is possible to observe the trail of a turtle that has come out to lay its eggs.

How to get there?

To get here you must take a boat from the Las Garzas dock 18 km from Acapetahua, Chiapas. The boat ride through the estuary lasts 30 minutes.
