It is a small indigenous Mam community, called Agua Caliente, in the municipality of Cacahoatán, Chiapas, Mexico. In its canyon runs a tributary of the Coatan River; that in its stormy descent down the volcanic slope, forms 2 waterfalls, the largest one looks like a well formed horse tail of more than 100 meters high. This place imposes respect and admiration that the same locals proclaim, saying that if we make the waterfall angry with shouts and whistles, the waterfall gets angry and alters its fall with a good portion of water, wetting those who dared to alter with their cries. the tranquility of the place.
From Tapachula (through El Edén) or Cacahoatán (towards Unión Juárez, turning off at Faja de Oro), reach the ejido El Águila. Entering the ejido El Águila, take a left turn (street) towards the ejido El Progreso. In the El Progreso ejido, continue on the road to Chespal Nuevo. Once in Chespal Nuevo, head towards Chespal Viejo. On the road to Chespal Viejo you will find a turnoff to the right, which is the rural road to Agua Caliente. Take this road until you reach Agua Caliente. Entering the ejido you will find the sign indicating the downhill access to the waterfalls and hot springs.
