Located northwest of the city of Tapachula. The Tacaná or "The House of Fire" is an active volcano 4,093 meters high, is the highest peak in the state of Chiapas and throughout southeastern Mexico. It has an area of 6,378 hectares that crosses the municipalities of Tapachula, Cacahoatan and Unión Juárez. In this last municipality are the tourist centers "La Casa del Fuego" of the community of Talquián and "Bosque de Niebla Tacaná" of the community of Chiquihuite, belonging to the Mam ethnic group; they offer tourist services on the trails and points of interest of the volcano, such as the cultivation of Cacao, Coffee, Corn and Flowers in panoramic views, here you have the possibility to meet the people of the community and taste food prepared by them; Sleep in "Papales" and enjoy the sunset on the way to the crater, visit the "Cueva del Oso", place to rest and prepare for the final ascent and enjoy the sunrise at the top of the volcano, which is located at 4100 meters considered the highest peak of Chiapas.
Leave Unión Juárez, travel 3 km of paved road to the town of Talquián; then approximately 7 km of dirt road to the town of Chiquihuites (leaving Tapachula 1 hour and 15 minutes).
