Escudo Jaguar

On the banks of the Usumacinta River, the natural border between Mexico and Guatemala, bordered by dense tropical vegetation, is the Escudo Jaguar resort, the gateway to the ancient Mayan cities hidden in the lush jungle. This ecotourism center owes its name to one of the most important rulers that Yaxchilan had in the classic era. Escudo Jaguar ecotourism center is located only 45 minutes from the archaeological site of Yaxchilan and only 30 minutes from its neighbor Bonampak, visiting both sites helps the visitor to understand the commercial and military alliances between both cities in the classic period.

How to get there

It is located 160 kilometers from Palenque, starting first by Federal Highway 199 to the Shupá junction and then taking the Southern Border Highway to the Corozal junction; from here you take a 16 kilometer detour that finally leads to the tourist center.
