This wonderful place is located on the banks of the Lacantun River, in front of the Montes Azules Biosphere Reserve. It has its own reserve with 2 interpretative trails and boat excursions on the Lacantún and Tzendales rivers within the reserve. It also has an aviary and a deer area where the reproduction of these species is guaranteed. The Ara Macao ecotourism center is recognized for the quality and architectural beauty of its facilities and services. Its restaurant offers a wide variety of typical national and international dishes.
VIA PALENQUE: Leave Palenque on Federal Highway 199 to the Shupá intersection and take the Carretera Fronteriza Sur, at kilometer 205, passing the Benemérito de las Américas, take the detour to Zamora Pico de Oro (15 km), from there continue 15 km more to reach Las Guacamayas.
VIA COMITAN: Take the road to Lagunas de Montebello National Park, where the Carretera de la Frontera Sur begins. From there, continue until you reach the entrance to the community of Boca de Chajul. From there, it is 32 km to the Ecotourism Center.
