It is a lagoon whose waters change color depending on the weather conditions at different times of the day; when it is cloudy it is green, during the early morning hours it is blue, with the midday sun it is silver and turns ocher in the clear sunsets. Its mountainous environment makes it the subject of countless legends told by its inhabitants about how the Laguna Encantada (Enchanted Lagoon) was formed.
In the surroundings we can see a good amount of trees like pines, oaks, mahogany, cypress, romerillos and ceibas, etc. In this place you can hike along the trails that surround the lagoon and have cabins to enjoy nature to the fullest.
The route to get there is to leave Tuxtla Gutiérrez heading north on state highway 102, Tuxtla - Chicoasén - Copainalá, a 78 km trip. Afterwards, there is a 12 km detour to Coapilla and from there take a road that starts at the town's central park, which will take you to the lagoon.
