Agua Azul waterfalls forest protection zone and wildlife refuge

Agua Azul was declared in 1980, a zone of protection of flora and fauna. In its environment live a great variety of natural species and animals in danger of extinction. The type of vegetation that develops is the evergreen forest, although species such as guapaque, barí, chicozapote and ramón are also present. The prevailing fauna is the boa constrictor, liana, anteater, howler monkey, spider monkey, ocelot, jaguar, tapir, scarlet macaw, canoe-billed toucan, opossum mouse and numerous species of bats.

There are various activities that can be done in this area such as: swimming in the Tulijá River, camping on the banks of the Tulijá River, bird watching with the help of park guides, rafting, among others.
