This temple was built in colonial times and is located in the Central Plaza of the municipal seat of Tuxtla Chico; It is the best example of colonial architecture in the region, with a sober facade and a wooden and tile roof. Inside you can see an old altarpiece dedicated to the Virgin.
During the festivities of the traditional Santa María Candelaria fair, entire families congregate in the streets of the city to make artistic carpets based on sawdust of different colors, flowers, corozo and cascabillo, natural elements that are combined to make the popular rugs.
