Junchavin Theater

The city theater was built at the beginning of this century, during the Porfirian period with the name of Belisario Domínguez. Over the years it has undergone various modifications; In 1980 it still functioned as the “Montebello Cinema”. You can observe the contemporary blacksmith work, decorations of angels with offerings, made in mortar. It is the site where the most important events of the city take place.   Photo gallery

Temple of La Merced

Cathedral of San Cristóbal Martir

San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas

Founded in the 16th century. It is one of the oldest cathedrals in Mexico. It has a remarkable baroque façade from the 17th century and neoclassical modifications from the 20th century. Inside you can admire the baroque altarpieces, the pulpit, the imagery and the alfarje. Photo gallery

The convent of La Asunción is one of the monuments of the highest artistic quality among the Dominican buildings of the Province of Los Zoques. its Mudejar tower is imposing, as is the façade that opens onto the atrium, which still retains its original wall.  

Temple of San Juan Bautista

Chamula, Chiapas

An example of the churches known as Indian towns because of their rectangular plan, austere façade with a bell gable and covered with wood and tile. Possibly from the 17th century. It stands out for its colorful flowery doorway and its coral window. It is very important for the intangible heritage that it represents in its interior ceremonies.
