The region of the Usumacinta River Basin has been inhabited since inmemorial times by various peoples who are an important part of the culture of the region. Frontera Corozal is located in the Lacandon Jungle of the state of Chiapas, on the left bank of the mighty river.

The site museum aims to revalue, strengthen, conserve and expose, from the community itself, the cultural heritage of the inhabitants of the Usumacinta River Basin, in the Lacandon area, in order to disseminate the cultural contributions of this region. It has a collection of interesting Mayan stelae from the archaeological sites of Yaxchilán and El Planchón.
