After passing through the artificial lake of Tolán or Rosendo Salazar, a secondary road goes through the forests of the mountains to La Providencia, founded in 1872 as a textile factory and one of the most relevant examples of architecture for the production of Porfirian Chiapas ; the complex includes the main house, the ray store, the administration, some parts of the workshops and the workers' houses. In this place in 1907, the first strike in Chiapas history took place and one of the first films shot in Chiapas was also filmed there: Rincón brujo (1949), directed by Alberto Gout, also director of the play Aventurera and born precisely in La Providencia.
