Puerto Chiapas is operated by the Integral Port Administration of Puerto Madero, federal entity in charge of managing the port facilities, providing the infrastructure service for the exchange of foreign trade merchandise and tourist services, turning Puerto Chiapas into a commercial and logistic development pole for the Southern Border of Mexico.
The specialized cruise terminal can serve tourist vessels of up to 311 meters in length, has a 225-meter pier, adequate facilities for the operation of tours, tour guides and cabs, as well as commercial premises, restrooms, parking, restaurant, bar and swimming pool.
In 2019 Holland America, Princess Cruises, Seabourn Cruises, Noble Caledonia and Windstar Cruises arrived in Puerto Chiapas.
From 2007 to 2019, 258 cruise ships have arrived in Puerto Chiapas with a total of 513,861 people on board (344,725 passengers and 169,136 crew members).
Tourists, passengers and crew of the cruise ships are offered a warm welcome, with the presentation of a cultural show with regional dances and marimba music, which is presented during the cruise ship's stay in Puerto Chiapas, normally the cruise ships stay from 8 to 9 hours in the port.
